Archeraposs Visored Sallet, 1.6mm Steel In the 15th c., the combat helmet known as the sallet superseded the bascinet and, by the mid-century, had become one of the most worn helmets throughout Europe. This helmet type could be found in many different shapes and variations - from plain to elaborately crafted, open-faced or visored, with a more or less pronounced tail-piece, etc. - and was especially popular in Italy (celata), Germany (Schaller) , France (salade) and England. At the dawn of the Renaissance, it eventually evolved into the 16th c. burgonet. The interior is blackened and fitted with an adjustable leather suspension liner attached with rivets. The 2mm thick black leather chin strap closes with a steel buckle. Specifications: Material: 1.6mm steel, brass fittings, leather inlay, leather chin strap Suitable for head circumference up to approx. 69cm Long distance (back to front): approx. 22cm Short distance (ear to ear): approx. 22cm Height: approx. 26cm Weight: approx. 3 kg Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
