Claymore Sword The claymore is a two-handed sword used in Scotland in the 16th and 17th centuries. There are various names and spellings for this sword, most of which come from Gaelic: Claidhem-more, Claidhmhichean-mora, Glaymore, claidheamh mòr and translated simply mean great sword. It is a long bidenhander with a double-edged blade and a broad, often v-shaped parry bar with circular decorations at the ends. The earlier claymore swords often had a long leather-wrapped ricasso.
